What kind of prices are good for a pair of young Bourbon Reds?

one of my buyers fell through, so I'm stuck with 5 turkeys instead of 2... If I can sell 2 as a PAIR, I might have better luck selling them.. but I have no idea what kind of price to ask... and how long I'll have to wait for them to be distinguishable... gender wise.

Bourbon reds are not that hard to sex. The hens will have white edging on the feathers the toms will have black.
See the white edging on the breast area of this hen?

It's harder to see on the picture of the toms but if you look close you can just barely see it, it's just a thin black edging

The males should be larger overall with thicker legs but it takes awhile for that to really show. And the males will have a larger snood and they will have a beard bump on the breast. Vent sexing is the best but you have to know what you are looking for. For the price it depends on your area, we get $10 per poult at hatch and it goes up from there. You can try your local craigs list or a sale paper and see if there are any listed and go from there.

1st year pair will lay next spring 60 bucks on this farm, when I only have one pair 80 bucks, thats not a lot of money for a pair of heirloom heritage bourbon reds!! tom!!!!!! wish you were closer I would take them all!!!

I think it's a heritage breed, not a commercial kind of bird. I paid SICK amounts of money last T-day for an organic, free range, heritage turkey.. and this year I'm growing my own! though apparently I won't save money...

I sold a young Tom last year that had just matured and was breeding age. He had a double beard, so he was pretty rare for a bourban. I took him to a sale and asked $30 for him and had him sold before I could get him out of the truck. There were 3 more people asking if I had more to sale, so I guess I underpriced him. Oh well, I still have his parents and am going to hatch off more poults.

heirloom , old world, black spanish came across with the spanerds! bourbon reds, kentuckkey narragansett, back east, Rhode island , oregon blue slates , tomnerd! gobbler means breeding male, the top dog,big daddy! the dude or any john wayne fans THE DUKE! yes it means boy turkey!
