What kind of shoes do you wear out to the chickens?

I am very particular about our shoes.
Each family member has a set at the back door for yard use only.
They stay on a special mat and are scrubbed clean after each walk outside.
(yes obsessive I know, but actually mainly because we have a dumb dog that goes everywhere and it grosses me out more than the birds! Large dogdoo doesn't break down in the rain it just becomes a mess

We also leave our "chicken supply shopping shoes" at a different door on the opposite side of the house, which are also thoroughly scrubbed after any visit to a pet store etc. This summer I'm just going to buy each of us a special pair to easily slip on and keep them in the back of our vehicle in individual plastic bags.

I especially like the brand Crocs !!!!! The pairs I own have minimal treading on the bottom = easier to scrub.

Flip flops are great in summer if they have no treads/designs cut into the bottom = flat/smoooth = easier to scrub.

Also look for flip flops / sandals that do NOT have the "single big toe strap" going thru the bottom of the shoe as a rivet-like fastener. That little tunnel the strap travels thru is a pita to clean

I like the reviews of Oxine

Oh..I forgot. I have a pair of bigger sneakers I had used for working healthcare. Had to keepthem pristine and all. But, anyway, they are a size too big...and fugly. So, I don't like to wear them in public. I brought those out, and they are all dirty and trashed ...just in 1 yr on this place.

I wear them for my daily drivers and mowing shoes.

This is exactly what I hate about most rubber boots. I just want to be able to quickly rinse/scrub/wipe/whatever my footwear. I'm lazy and don't obsessively clean but just getting the mud chunks off so I can set them inside the door on their own mat is what I want to do and I don't want to have to work at it. Oh, and yes, Oxine is great stuff!

Sometimes i don't wear shoes at all..

jk..i wear just my regular skate shoes lol i live in a city so i don't really have boots or anything, i just go to my backyard its not that big.

I wear my gum rubbers. They're the regular ole rain boots that you can get with any design on them. I have a plaid pair for my yard work and some maroon ones with chickens on them for my chicken chores. If I wear any other kind of shoe out there, the chickens will peck them. They prefer my boots

Usually a pair of old sneakers that are always sitting outside the door in the garage (which is the way we most often go to visit the chickens). On really cold mornings, I'll slip into my winter boots, which stay in the same location throughout winter.

No shoes allowed in our house, so it's not really a switching footwear thing as a on/off one.

I've gotten that way. Its just so much simpler not to wear shoes in the house than switch them all the time. I mean why would you really need shoes on in the house anyway? (except for people with special foot problems, of course) So now, in spite of my upbringing, I have shoes by the front door to wear places, and shoes by the back door to wear out to the garden and chickens, and wear socks or go barefoot inside. Much easier.

Keeps the house so much cleaner, too! We've no complaints, though my parents kind of think we're nuts when they visit and have to leave their shoes at the door.
