What kind of silkie (color etc?)

Does it pluck its own feathers out one by one, while giving you the eye, and gyrating to Hey Big Spender? šŸ˜†

You have beautiful birds @Matilda Belle!!

Well the fact that he’s a cross then and this ā€œBreederā€ seems full of sh!t anyway it doesn’t surprise me he’s cross beaked then.

I'm sure cross beak can happen in any breed, its just bad luck.

Nothing wrong with cross breeds, some of them are great utility-wise and/or lovely in appearance, BUT they should be sold as such and people buying them should not be misled into thinking they are purebred, or that they can show them, or breed them true.

Calling crossbreeds nicknames such as satin, showgirl and stripper etc (i.e. not properly established and recognised breeds in their own right) doesn't really matter a great deal, again so long as the buyer isn't misled into thinking they are something that they are not.

I'm more of a fan of calling a mutt a mutt, even if it is a beautiful mutt!

Do you sell/ship eggs and chicks? They're so pretty, especially the satins. I've never seen ones with patterns

I don’t ship quite yet. I am thinking of becoming NPIP but haven’t completed that process yet. I do sell chicks and eggs locally in Minnesota.

If you’re on Facebook check out Burlesque Poultry. She has really nice satins and silkies and she ships. I got my rooster in my profile pic from her.

Cross beak can happen in any breed. I had one that was a nut and an sham cemani with it.

Calling a standard crossing something is one thing. Hence those labroduddles or whatever they are in the dog world. Showgirl are specifically a silkie with a naked neck.

Don't get me started on fashion dogs names!! šŸ˜‚

We all know what is crossed to get a puggle or a schnoodle, but they are crosses nonetheless until and unless they become recognised stable breeds in their own right and breed true. This is the crux of the issue to me, because breeders charge a fortune for them and people think they are buying a breed because it has a name.

Showgirl is just the nickname for a silkie feathered Turken, right? Or are they crosses between silkies and Turkens? Do they breed true every time? I am aware the naked neck is a dominant gene. I thought the name showgirl (like satin) was vernacular and merely describes what it looks like, but it isn't a recognised breed. Do correct me if I'm wrong.
