What Kind Of Waterer's Do You All Use For Your Adult Chickens?

I use two of these attached to a high pressure flexible hose. (I used an old washer hose with a brass male to male attachment on one end.) Pretty easy to clean.

The directions say not to use a bike tire valve when you need to replace the original (mine needed it after about 10 months), but I did and saved a lot over buying their expensive replacement part. When the valve went, it did drip, so I wouldn't put them over anything that needs to be dry.
The hens knock into them sometimes and water spills with the flexible hose too.
I also had to winterize the hose so that it wouldn't freeze. I used the foam tubes at Home Depot and attached plastic water bottles around it so the chickens would stop eating the foam.

They work well for me.

I use whatever will hold water!!

Most all of the adult chickens have either a rubber tub, a short cattle syrup tub, galvanized pans, automatic horse waterers, 3 lb. plastic coffee cans...etc.

The size of the tub depends on how many hens are in each pen.
For just a trio of breeders, I use the coffee cans.

The pens that have the large tubs are all outside except for one.
I have dogs that live with my chickens, so I don't lock them up at night, so they are free to get a drink anytime they want.
I love this, because I can just dump it every day, rinse it out and fill it back up right in the run, so I don't have to carry it out of the chicken coop and spill it all over myself!!
The horse waterers are attached to hoses near the coop doors, so I can pick it up, stick it out the coop door, swish it around, dump it and put it back.
I really like them. I want to get auto waterers in all my pens.....

Excellent solution for clean water and for a small coop. I have to see if I could come up with something to fit my needs??? Thanks!

No, not at all, I just bought the nipples and grommets separately. I used the gallon milk jugs and drilled a hole on the flat side. If you drill a hole where it crosses on the bottom, it will leak. The grommet is what prevents it from leaking. I'll try and post a pic, it really works awesome. Kind of the same principle as the rabbit waterer, just on a larger scale. There are no hoses, just milk jugs. I think the cups would be just one more thing to clean. I have alot of other animals, and trust me low maintenance is key!!

I use a 5 gallon bucket that has been cut down to make it about 6 inches deep. It holds enough water to keep them for 2 days. If it gets dirty I just dump it and refill. Doesnt' take long to do. I dump it and bring the water hose through the chicken mesh and leave it in the bucket on low while I do the feeding and petting. I normally stay in the coop for about 15 minutes anyway for several times a day. I have a few that like to be petted and spoiled. I have to visit while i'm there. It also gives me a change to check them all out and see whats going on. Just about all of them come in when I do. Some will just stand and watch me, some just talk to me, (little chirping sounds) and some try to get me to pick them up. Those are the spoiled ones, Spike and Purex.

When I first put my first flock in the coop and switched to the bucket I had to put the red bottom of their previous waterer in the bucket with a little water in it so they would drink. They would end up making the red bottom sink to the bottom of the bucket and learned to drink from the bucket and not the red bottom.

Sorry I don't have a picture

This is what I'm talking about. This is very easy to do, took me all of 2 minutes! I just wired it up to the side of my brooder and it works great!

In the brooder, some bricks so the smaller chicks can get water too. There's another one hanging on the other end of the brooder.

I use the 4 gallon kuhl waterer and it seems to leak no matter what. I have it level and yet it still seems to leak. Thats why I asked what everyone uses. Thanks for the great pictures and ideas. Any others are still very welcome.
