What Kind Of Waterer's Do You All Use For Your Adult Chickens?

Excellent solution for clean water and for a small coop. I have to see if I could come up with something to fit my needs??? Thanks!

It works awesome, I only have 22 chicks, soon to be less when whoever starts crowing!! This works out beautifully for them, the water is clean!! Sorry, I just love that part!! lol

My chickens live in a very large chain link chicken corral. I use an old dish tub for their water. The tub sits outside of the corral and the hens just stick their head through the chain link and get a drink. Keeps the water clean, waters my dogs too and there is no need to enter the corral to clean & refill.

I use mostly 1&1-/2 gallon double hood Pigeon waterers. Premier Products have a 1.75 gallon plastic waterer. When I first saw the ad for these I was thrilled. A perfect size for a one day supply in my breeder pens, with the ability to add meds if needed, and not affected by cleaning with bleach. I still love the size and the ease in cleaning, but I will not buy any more. Of the 20 I purchased only 8 have maintained their shape. Once they begin to collapse they just keep getting worse until they eventually crack. They body of these is not made of heavy enough plastic to keep them from collapsing.

for the last year I have used the red and white plastic one gallon waterer from Tractor Supply and anywhere really, and was happy but now with 6 chickens and 4 chicks comming up I dont want to worry about them running out. This spring I started using a large round party bowl put in the top of a green flower pot I had around. Fit perfectly, easy to fill and easy to clean. Now I am going to make one of the 5 gallon bucket waterers so they dont run out if I cant get out there till later in the day.

This is what we use. It has a evaporative cooler float installed in one end and is automatic. Just a standard stick of drain pipe. Used a hole saw (the cup with teeth that you drill door knob holes with) to make the holes. We put a "T" joint at one end to keep it stable and we don't glue the end caps on. Once a week we pop those off and wash it out. They can't poop in it and it stays clean.

Edit to say that we have one that is over 50 foot long made the same way.

I had the same type of waterer until I smelled it one day. With no coover, they poop in the water. I think the round shape of the pipe made them think it was a roost. This new one is easy to spray clean and the paint tray keeps them off the top. Tomorrow marks two weeks with this type of cleaning. Since it's coop cleaning time, I plan to snap it apart for a thorough cleaning and a new coffe filter. I do not have an answer for all of you who have concerns about freezing.

Sorry I have never had a smell issue and they don't poop or roost on it. I was just offering my version. Your idea is very nice too.
