What kind of worm is this?

I have a few pullets (3 months old) that are in quarantine due to some respiratory issues/foamy eye. I have been treating with Tylan 50 for the last couple of days (. 5cc 2xday) I went to check on them and noticed this poop which at first I thought was blood, but upon closer inspection I'm thinking worm. I planned on worming them with Valbazen, but was going to wait until they were no longer on the Tylan. Wondering what kind of worm it is, and if I should wait, or go ahead and treat with Valbazen now.

I don't think that is a worm. It could be intestinal shed or possibly bloody poop. Watch for more of this, and you may then want to treat for coccidiosis with Corid. Occasional small bits of intestinal shed can be normal. Look for any chickens sleepy or not eating, or standing around hunched.

Ah! The symptoms you mention are exactly what I've been dealing with! Because they also had the respiratory issue I chalked it up to that... I've lost a couple pullets already, and wonder of this is perhaps what they had-not worms. Man, I really hate this side of chicken keeping! I will pick up some corid tomorrow morning and hope the best for my babies.

Mine are sick also. It started with two hens that were setting. When the first one got sick I just thought it was a fluke, her first eggs were infertile and I set a second batch. So I just thought she was just run down and I took the eggs to the incubator and started Corrid, I thought it was a good start; I followed up with Wazine. The second setting hen started getting sick and wouldn't go back on the nest. I thought she might not haven ingested much of the Corrid because she wouldn't leave the nest much during that time, so I started it again. The first hen died, I am still giving Corrid 7 days later and tonight I notice MANY sick adult chickens. They sneeze and cough, are disoriented and lose lots of weight, no interest in food. They scratch their head/ears and try to wipe away whatever is bothering them. I have dusted heavily with DE, thinking maybe mites or something else I might not be able to see was getting them in the setting boxes. I am at a loss what to try next. A heavier duty wormer? An antibiotic?

It sounds like you may have a respiratory disease possibly in addition to cocci. What symptoms were you treating with Corid? Corid only treats coccidiosis, and should be given for 5-7 days, and followed up with chick vitamins and some yogurt for probiotics. Be cautious with DE, since it can irritate the breathing of chickens. You may want to read about the common respiratory diseases in chickens in case those sound familiar.
