9catsz has the right idea. I have only had to kill two snakes in my lifetime and only one was venomous, it was a pygmy rattlesnake on our front porch the other was a black snake I couldn't keep out of my chicken house. I was the kid who wasn't scared of anything so my grandparents always took me to the nature center when I was little. At the nature center they have one of every type of venomous snake in our area on display so from a young age I learned what snakes not to catch. I still think its funny when people chase around the little garden snakes with a rake because "they are deadly".
