Yesterday was DH's last day at work. The company gave him a party and some nice gifts and some funny gifts. Funny ones: a mug from the owner that says, "FN QUITTER!" in large letters, and "I mean, happy retirement" in small letters. A T-shirt that says, "Does this shirt make me look retired?"
Nice ones: A bottle of nice champagne and a pair of flutes to drink it out of. A DeWalt cordless skill saw.
Do you remember the movie, "Castaway," with Tom hanks and a soccer ball named Wilson? The owner of the company bought that soccer ball and put it by DH's workstation "because he was always working alone, so he needed a friend." Now Wilson is in a nice presentation box, etched with "Happy Retirement" (date/company name).
So, yeah, it makes me happy that the people he worked for cared that much and valued him that much.
