What made you happy today?

Sitting outside in the sunshine and watching my chickens.

My Teddy-Cat, who I thought we were losing a few days ago, came out of hiding to beg for chicken. He'd eaten almost nothing for three days, but scarfed a half cup of boiled chicken right out of my hand ... and now he's actually playing! Life is GOOD!

I was hanging out with my friend today, when she got a call from another friend. This friend of a friend is a woman in her 80s who called because she fell.

What made me happy was going with my friend to help her, getting her to the urgent care (I'm pretty sure she fractured her ankle), and getting to know an interesting person and making a new friend.

We also went out to try a new hot pot restaurant in town, and it was genuine Cheng Dong hotpot. The buffet style line where you picked up your ingredients included lots of Asian ingredients that I have never seen in this very white town. Things like fish balls, tofu skin, baby octopus and squid, Chinese sausage etc. It was DELICIOUS! And when I asked where they sourced their quail eggs, they said that they were imported, and seemed very interested when I told them I raise coturnix quail and can provide fresh quail eggs for them.
