Ok. I'm trying to understand. Like, there could be 2 chickens of the same breed, with one being heritage and the other not?Nope, they are a hybrid

No, only certain breeds are heritage breeds.Ok. I'm trying to understand. Like, there could be 2 chickens of the same breed, with one being heritage and the other not?
OH, now I mostly get it. I was wondering if these are all heritage breeds: https://www.rochesterhatchery.com/PoultryCategory/heritagebreedsNo, only certain breeds are heritage breeds.
EEs are not a heritage breed, even if their ancestors were.Their ancestors were Chilean breeds known as kollonka, Ketro, & Mapuches. I'm getting hatching eggs of these guys. They're just not APA recognized.
Ameraucanas are a pure breed, are accepted in the APA, and have several recognized varietes. They have white skin, a beard, and slate legs.OH, now I mostly get it. I was wondering if these are all heritage breeds: https://www.rochesterhatchery.com/PoultryCategory/heritagebreeds
I was told that the Ameraucanas are EEs, so I'm not sure how that works.
I was just pointing out their ancestry.EEs are not a heritage breed, even if their ancestors were.

The EE has a very complicated history actually. There was a whole thread on the subject.Ameraucanas are a pure breed, are accepted in the APA, and have several recognized varietes. They have white skin, a beard, and slate legs.
EEs are just mutts that are known to lay colored eggs. They can be offspring of CCLBs, Amerucanas, or just crosses of other EEs.
They are not the same.
Ooh! Can you get me the thread? The EE has a very complicated history actually. There was a whole thread on the subject.
He's really nice looking. Here's a Heritage Plymouth Barred Rock, rooster of mine. They're very different from the regular hatchery quality Barred Rocks.
