What Makes YOUR Chicken Happy?

Apparently researchers in Canada are trying to find out what makes chickens happy.

They get the most excited after some friends make a drop off of beer making left overs in the form of the mixed grains they fermented.

They seem the happiest when they have all day access to their favorite things and the weather is a nice and sunny 65. Range time, dust bath, leaves or mulch to kick around in, nests fluffed up with straw, sun bathing, a shaded spot to roost in for an afternoon nap and feeders that never get empty. When they have all that they're down right peaceful.

Food makes them happy. Especially yogurt and sunflower seeds and no chicken in sight. They cackle and cluck as they eat their wonderful gift alone with no one to share it with.

Even though I have some friendly ones who will sit on my leg to warm up their feet or my old nine-year-old hen who sits on my lap all day, I don't think they're as happy as food makes them.
