We are making a brooder. So what type of bottom should it have. Should it be a solid bottom or a wire one? I would think a wire one would be easier to clean but harder on the chicks. A solid one would be more comfortable but harder to keep clean. What do you use?

Mine has a wooden bottom. Its not really that bad to clean. Just get one of those feed scoops from your feed store and it works perfect to scoop everything out. We use wood shavings for our bedding in it. Good luck!

Solid bottom...use wood (pine) pellets for the bedding material...you won't have to clean it out as often...or at all. Just stir the bedding and add more pellets to "freshen" up the brooder. We also add Stall Dry occasionally.
