What Mug Are You Using Today?

This morning's mug is brought to you by Song of the Morning Ranch, where I did a yoga retreat in 2017 🧘‍♀️:

After posting in the "Gender Help" forum last night, and finding out that there is a good chance I have not one, but TWO cockerels (I ordered zero) in my flock of (9) 6-week-old chicks, I am neither awake nor ready enough to process this information. :th

Nice mug, but sorry for the news about your boys.

I love the mug AND the encouragement. Awake and ready for cockerels. How many cups will it take for two 😴 😂 but on the bright side, 2 out of 7 pullets isnt too bad. Do you know what you'll do with them 🐓 🐓?

I ordered 0 cockerels from a hatchery that has a pretty good reputation, so 2 out of 9 is VERY bad, lol 😆😆😭. And when you add in that 6 of the 9 I ordered were either autosexing or sex-linked, it's even worse. They only had to get 3 chicks vent sexed right so 2/3 incorrectly sexed is downright criminal IMO 💩.

I don't know what the heck I'm gonna do. I get so attached to my chicks. I guess I was just lucky that the first batch of 8 (who are now almost 2 yrs) were all sexed correctly. I was trying to prepare myself for the possibility that there's was one and I could probably keep it (and I was still on the fence on that - depending on temperament, etc, but not 2. I'm just really hoping at least one of them is joking right now, and it will be a pullet. 🤞

Ohhhhh yeah, that's very bad especially when males are cheaper. I hope you're able to find a solution. I thought I'd be super attached to my cockerels but they turned into straight-up a-holes after 6 months 😂 makes rehoming so much easier.

This is what I'm hoping for. Although, re-homing in my area will likely be damn near impossible. I will definitely try, but not that hard, because....ain't nobody got time for that in my house 😅. I see my first culling(s) in the not too distant future 🔮.

Good morning, y'all!

My mug this morning:

I've lived in Michigan my entire life, but hadn't visited Traverse City until 2021, for a friend's wedding. Traverse City is most well-known for the Cherry Festival and the plethora of vinyards/wineries in the area - Mari Vineyard is owned by Marty Lagina, one of the brothers on the History Channel's docuseries "The Curse of Oak Island" (my husband was obsessed with the show - I thought it was ridiculous, lol). About 20 minutes from Traverse City, in Suttons Bay, is Ciccone Vineyard and Winery, which is owned by Madonna's family.

Anyway, TC is truly one of Michigan's most beautiful areas (close to Lake Michigan and the Sleeping Bear Dunes, and right on GrandTraverse Bay). If you ever get a chance to go, I highly recommend it!
