What Names do you have for your chickens?

The Missus didn't see my sense of humor when I labeled the nest boxes: Baked, Fried, Stewed, BBQed, StirFry, Deepfried, & Welldone. The only verbal name is a rotating name for the current dominant Rooster----he always is referred to as: "Mr Studly".

I just got a silkie roo from my wonderful neighbor today...she had too many roos and was looking to place this guy...he's black and has crazy feathers...the kidlets named him....Don King!

Of course pet chickens should have names just like the other family members! It's much more practical to refer to them by a name rather than a breed or description. Our hens are:

Jane - Buff Orpington
Annabel - gold/black Easter Egger
Lucy - Welsummer
Delilah - GLW
Nora - SLW
Maureen and Pearl - Black Australorp sisters
Gretchen - Delaware

Coming soon:

Grace - Dominique
Hazel - Speckled Sussex
Caroline - Blue Ameraucana

I had Marco, Annette, Amaranth and Aerin the silver phoenixes (all but the last have something to do with the metal band Nightwish) but then i sold them. now i have Bubbles the silkie roo, Gold and Silver his silkie hens, and Ester easter egger, who turned out to be an ameraucana. I am hoping if i ever get some chicks for a rooster baby named Thor. but my dad calls all my birds "chicken Caesar" "chicken Curry" "Cashew Chicken" and 'Fried chicken" for some reason.....

Oh yes names help keep them in order.
Lt Fuzz is the EE Roo.
Black Autralorps- Camilla and Octavia,
EE's : Fat Lily , Spice, Gimli, Eagle eye(she looks like a golden eagle always giving the stink eye), and Georgia
Silver Laced Wyandottes- Lulu, Sweetie, Baby
Buff Orp- Butters fat, skittish, and meek (lowest in the pecking order)
Daisy- RS the most friendly and inquisitive but also bossy,

I love the BA the best. THey were my first chickens and have always been the friendliest and easiest to handle.

Cool! Which one, if you don't mind me asking?

The one named Aspen! What breed of chicken is the one named Aspen?

Such a pretty name for a bird or a person!

She's a manx rumpie (very rare Iranian breed)/barred rock mix. Here's a photo of her:

I love these names I am reading. My daughter named ours:

Pheonix roo - Jupiter
Pheonix hen - Moon
RIR hens - Elvis (don't ask) and Mohawk (her crown is just like a roos)
ISA hens - Lovebird and Prince
Ameracauna - Sparrow (she looked just like a house sparrow when she was a chick)

My current 35:

Little Roo = my only roo, SSH is my avatar (2nd in command to me and he knows it)
Hendini = one of my 6 white leghorn pullets (she's an escape artist-flies over an 8' fence)
Gimpy = white leghorn who as a chick hurt her leg and walks with a limp (4 of my other white leghorns are all "leggy")
Buffy = my 4 BO
Rocky and Rocky = 2 BR
Screamer = my other BR who "screams" if I even look at her, lord forbid, try to touch her
Goldie, Sweet Pea & Edie = my 3 EE
Blackie = my 8 BA
Brownie = Sp Sussex who is lighter colored than my other SS (the others were grabbed by a coyote last summer)
Callie = my 7 Calif Whites
Dottie 1 and Dottie 2 = SLW (1 is much friendlier than 2)

Got 18 more coming in May:weee:weee
