One of my teenage Americanas has been pecked so badly she is completely raw on her backside. There is white drainage which looks like it could be poo and not puss but I'm not sure. Can any help with the prcedure to clean and what natural remedy I can put on. I was thinking I should soak her in some clean water and then apply goldenseal powder. I won't be able to "rub" anything on it. **She is seperated and I can tell she is in pain. She is still moving slowly about but stopping and closing her eyes. This breaks my heart. Advice please!

I don't know if this is the best thing for her, but here is what I would do:

Flush the wound with clean water to remove the puss, then wash it with betadine solution (iodine). Spray it with Blue Kote once a day. Keep her separated from the others until it heals.

As a side note, pecking can be a sign of boredom or over crowding. It may help to string up a head of cabbage for them to peck on instead of pecking each other. I know some folks get the Purina Flock Block for the same issue.
