ShelleyD, I'm pretty sure there's a diagnosis for what ails you...and it may be highly contagious. I don't hatch, can't have more chickens, but when I saw the picture of your full bator my mind said, "Must do THAT!"
I did that once except I did have the turner working and in use. I just couldn't toss the eggs so I piled them in the bator. Thank goodness after candling they thinned out. I'm sure because the quail eggs got turned on the big side down several times is why most of them didn't make it. I won't do that again.

None of my broody ducks ever swim while they are brooding so I don't think they need higher humidity. Just watch the air cells and make sure they are 'growing' like they should and they'd do fine. The ones I'm most worried about are the coturnix since they dry out faster from being so small. I would NOT set button eggs in this bator.
