Raw rice is found in many pigeon feed mixes. Raw rice will not kill birds! That is an old wives tale. While apple seeds do contain arsenic, my flocks have eaten tons of apples over the year with no problems. Everything in moderation.

Avocado (well the pits and peel are supposedly the worst, but I avoid it altogether out of habit from keeping parrots). Lol.

I just had this ludicrous picture fly through my brain of a chicken trying to swallow an avocado pit.........

Somewhere I read asparagus isn't good. Any feedback on this? I would love to turn mine loose in my fenced asparagus patch this fall.

@FlyWheel I know, right!?!? I imagine them kicking it around like a soccer ball. Lol.

@jeria I think it's the stringy bits of asparagus that are part of the concern. Risk of impaction.

@lastco so turning them loose on the tall ferny plants in the fall wouldn't be an issue?
