What odd vegetables/fruits should I plant this year??

I'm looking for ideas for odd veggies or fruits that I should try growing this year.
Odd being something that's rare to find in the store or something that might be a new veggie/fruit

I've got my eye out for mangel beet seeds, but couldn't find any last year.

Or does it need to be something you can eat?

Pineberries and pink lemonade blueberries I know blueberries are not a first year fruiting plant .

Sorrel is good. It’s a leafy green that taste like lemon.

It’s not weird but peas, if you want it to be weird you can put the shoots in salad

My new things this year are Jerusalem artichoke, gooseberry (hinnomaki red is the variety), purple majesty potato, mountain rose potato, rhubarb (glaskin's perpetual is the variety) , glass gem corn, kale (common but never grew it), brussels sprouts (tried last year but they didn't take), 3-sisters (not a new plant necessarily, but a new technique for me), native plum trees, meyer lemon tree (indoor) and dwarf pomegranate tree (indoor).

Some other uncommon garden finds might be luffa (long growing season though), artichoke (not sure if your zone would work out), asparagus, and parsnips. Something unique I want to try but haven't is Mexican gherkins (aka: cucamelons).

The odd things I'm planting this year include Chinese red, and white yard long beans, Mexican sour gherkins, (cucamellons) green sausage tomato, eight ball squash, Kajari melons, and peppercorns. I'll probably try some ginger as well.
