What other ways are you different? Besides the chicken thing :)

I have a large collection of dead things

Me too and it's not just me DH...LOL
I had a baby crow that fell out of the nest and I buried him and the raccoon dug him up which is why my dead birds go in the trash can...I have most of his little bones including a foot that I wore in my hair one year for Halloween when I went as the Morrigan.
I have the bones that were dug up that came from Whiskers, my 7 year old Xenopus frog and Sally the Eastern Painted Turtle...that's not counting my fossil collection either.

NORMAL is SO overrated. LOL

I dont wear dead things in my hair, LOL. I do save just about EVERYTHING though. I have every single Bearded Dragon egg I ever hatched stashed on one of my shelves. I save receipts too, even if they are 5 years old. Im a total HUMAN germaphobe. I cant stand it when people touch my stuff, and I really dont like shaking hands or hugs, but if the person is special, they can get a hug, lol. Animal germs, I could care less!

As if the chicken thing weren't enough....

I also have horses and goats on the farm, and am equally as addicted to them, too!

I'm a mom and I cloth diaper, baby wear, and co-sleep. I became a mom after the age of 30.

I'm a vegetarian, though I'm realistic and down to earth about life on a farm (you can eat my extra roosters if you want, but I'm not gonna

). I listen to pretty much nothing but hardcore punk music. I am a huge supporter of sustainable living practices (farming, etc.) I am very politically active (I have a big mouth. Gotta have an outlet for that somewhere

)

That's just the tip of the iceberg, really. It's all normal and natural to me, but most people I meet think that most things that are just everyday life to me are pretty strange and weird!

I to sell things on ebay and also craigslist...and my fave sandwich is peanut butter, pickles, onions, mayo, and cheddar cheese............

My DH and I met 8 yrs ago on AOL, he is 12 yrs older then me, I LOVE body piercings (have 9) and tattoos,I also "normally" have bright purple hair, and in our town we are known as "The rocket House" due to the fact that we have a 10 foot tall rocket at the end of our drive way. This is our second rocket that DH built. The first one was 21 feet long (but got stolen by scrappers when we where gone on vacation)

He is a union carpenter, and I am a stay at home mom. We have been slowly moving farther away from the city and hopefuly will be on a farm soon. I would be happy if I never had to see anyone but my family and CLOSE friends.

I'm sure there is much more....but if we tell you about it...we would have to kill you...LOL

Ha ha, great topic.
For one thing, I also have a Mini Cooper, hence my screen name. I have 6 children, 4 are grown, and all were born at home. I'm a medical heretic even though I'm an RN. No cable TV, and I don't eat junk food. I look like a liberal, but I'm not. I like to spend time alone more than most people.

What an awesome thread!! My husband has a favorite thing to say "We're all just a little bit crazy."
I would have to say that fits me ~
I am a bit OCD ( though not bad, afterall, he is my check & balance) ~ I have a huge collection of pearls & beads, fabrics, sell stuff on eBay, homeschool, cook from scratch, sew, make & sell doll clothes, & craft, grind my own wheat, grow a garden,& am a stay-at-home mom. My friends call me a hippy version of Martha Stewart. (Hubby has a collection of old 1940's pick-ups, bow-hunting stuff, and camping gear ~ I'm his check & balance)
I am very dedicated to my faith. I know God loves us all, regardless.. I try to see what it is he loves in others, helps me to love them too ~ that said, can't stand big government, & pointless laws & time wasters.

My husband went from a $50K a yr job to self-employment, and our entire family supported him through it. He's a master carver & fine woodworker, does everything from chainsaw carved animals to fine antique reproductions ~ all out of our shop ( garage) and that supports a family of 7 ~ we "recycle" ~ some might call that dumpster-diving :-D~ We live in the middle of town, & heat our home with a woodstove ~ the kids help out with every part of our home life. Our house is the one with all the neighborhood kids over ~ & we like it that way, then you know where they are at. I don't care what anyone says, I give out cookies AND hugs. I will ALWAYS promote the family. Some folks think we are strange for that ~

I listen to almost every type of music there is, classical, pop, country, techno, world fusion, etc, unless it's rap & hard rock, debases women or families, or cusses. I love to wear sari's, salwar kameez, & lengha & choli. I write a blog, and have several books in the works, as well as doing the photography for a book my 9 yr old son is writing.

We backpack into places, & have since the kids were born. When we vacation, it's always with an educational bent, and we all love it. We own guns, and use them, and taught the kids how to use them too. We also own fishing poles, and use them too ~ :-D We read incessantly ~ when I was in 3rd grade, I had read every book in the school library, when I was 13, I had read every single book in the kid's section in the public library. I grew up without a tv till I was 15. ( & I'm only 36) Now, my kids watch tv on Saturday only ( including movies, and we often forget to watch anything at all), and we don't have cable, or watch any movie rated over pg-13. I abhorr violence & sexual promiscuity, & think that it is ruining families, and hence ruining our nation.

I thought I was different ( my neighbor tells me I "march to a different drum altogether") until I met all of you awesome folks ~ I too love it that a crazy love for some silly chickens has brought so many wonderful folks together!! {:>)=

ps ~ I like oreo's & cheez whiz ~ a perfect combo of salt & sweet.

I guess I will jump in on this thread. Personally, I think I am pretty normal and boring lol However, I guess a few things might make me a bit different. I collect Christmas ornaments and Halloween decorations (I have about 3,000 Christmas ornaments). I have 5 chihuahuas-they are addictive-you can't have just one! I also raise hamsters and have the chickens, which makes me a bit different from most people I know. They all think I am the eccentric animal lover. I make pottery and baskets. I love to read Shakespeare for fun....and I'm gay

I am also very much into tiki culture, like the old tiki bars and restaurants from the 40's-60's. I go to a convention for it every year.

What makes me different......I'll start by saying I am one of the few people who does not lie . Don't get me wrong ...I've tried it before , but I wasn't very good at it and it wasn't something I wanted for myself . I guess the way I look at it is .....I'm sorry if I may hurt someones feelings....but at least I can sleep at night . The thing about lying is it's a full time job . You have to keep track of all the lies you have told to all the people you know . Otherwise if you don't, people will know . And when people figure it out......well let's just say you won't have many friends .

I rode bulls for 10 years , have broke numerous bones including my back , and my jaw in 3 places . I have my associates degree in HVAC/R which in lamens terms means heating and air conditioning and refrigeration (Ice makers , ice cream machines , walk in coolers and freezers etc..)
I am currently in my third year of my Union electrical apprenticeship . I wire commercial buildings and have done some residential . I'm 5'2" and 115 lbs.....so I guess you could say that I have to work my A** off to get the job done . I'm a tomboy but love to sew/quilt .

Pretty cool thread!!! As so many have said, we are all very different. I guess there are a few things that make me different from the people around me, though.

I am a stay at home mom who just happens to live alone with my three boys. My husband is military and thanks to them, we have lived apart for the past almost 3 years. He is also 6 years younger than me and adopted our two oldest children since I already had them when we met.

I love to cook and sew, have way too many pets and an insane love of anything normally considered creepy (snakes, spiders, rodents). I value all life and will relocate a black widow just to keep us all (her included) safe. I go psychotic over old abandoned houses. If they have a no trespassing sign I just take LOTS of pics of the outside. If not, I do a complete exploration. Don't get me started on dead stuff. Our most recent addition was a dog skull found by the kids and I at an old house.....he is now sitting on my middle son's desk and named spike. I have piercings and tattoos (but nothing extreme). Oh, and I am an atheist living right smack dab in the bible belt.....talk about feeling different!!!! We are borderline vegetarian/organic but do slip up. Any meat we consume, however, comes from humane sources. And last but certainly not least, I love to kiss my chickens!!!!

I'm not sure if this is out of the norm or not, but here tis'. I'm a Christian and go to church every Sunday and Wednesday, my dad is a preacher, I'm homeschooled, I LOVE to swim every day during the summer and climb trees. I am also anxiously awaiting summer camp in June.

I have 2 little brothers, one of which isn't on the ground yet
