What other ways are you different? Besides the chicken thing :)

One of the things most people comment on is that my kids are 17 and almost 6. Getting a little tired of that one since I dont think its that uncommon. I am single and stay home because of my son's medical problems, Im tired of explaining why I dont work as well. I met my boyfriend 9 1/2 years ago in the newspaper personals, I prayed if there was someone out there for me now was the chance...he was my only match and I was his. We dont live together even though we have a child.

I could be considered different in my family, my 2 sisters are city livers. One in Philly with her career and one in Boston in Law school and me 3 miles from where I grew up and a mini van.

And I too sew. None of the people I know do, but Im finding alot of people here do. I dont do alot of it but I do make tote bags and aprons. When I was a kid my mom made all our halloween costumes and I have tried to do the same for my kids (although 2 years ago the white jumpsuit Elvis costume for my 3 year old was too good to pass up!)

I hold on to traditions which I dont think alot of people do any more. My kids middle names are after my grandfather and my dad.

I grew up in the 60s but never got into the drugs and hippie crowd. I was more interested in horses.

Met my husband in high school Spanish class, but didn't date until he graduated. Went to same college, got engaged, and always wanted to live in the country and have my horses. Married at 19. Named first son with two grandfathers' first names. Named second son with two grandfathers' middle names.

Fast forward a few decades. Worked for the same company 30+ years, retired and FINALLY moved to the country. Didn't have my horses anymore, but obtained my first dog and cat as a married couple (we never had a yard for a dog, long story).

Now I have chickens and am still married to the same man...

Hmmm. I must say I am amazed at the variety here. “Baking is just not done.” ????? I’ve been baking since I was a child. Of course, there isn’t a bakery in my entire county.

I am a stay-at-home wife, and I love it! When I was finally able to quit work, which I had wanted to do for years, some people assumed we were wealthy. Most people assume we are living the same lifestyle as they are; i.e., car payment, huge mortgage, expensive clothes and trips, eating out often. We haven't had a car payment in about 16 years. We have been building our house for 7 years and still not finished. We rarely -- and I mean rarely -- go on vacation. We don't watch sports or "reality" tv and we are definitely not vegetarians.

I enjoy gardening, sewing, reading, and am a bit of an anglophile. I live in the woods and I do kill all the poisonous snakes and spiders I find. ;-). We have no children, but 7 dogs. I’ve learned to do a small amount of carpentry. We live in an area absolutely entrenched in college football, and I am thrilled to say that hubby doesn’t care for any of it any more than I do! I didn’t like “girls night out” when I had a job. We prefer old movies, and I especially like British period pieces. I hate subdivisions and haven’t lived in one in about 20 years.

I don't have any chickens; I just log on here and druel over the coops.

You need some hens, STAT!

Well, it's like this. We've been building our house for 7 years and if there's one thing DH is tired of, it's construction. I have trouble with carpal tunnel and tendonitis. So, if we can get around to cutting a few trees on our too-wooded lot, I might be able to get started.... but who knows when or if it will happen. The lack of level ground on our lot and the high number of predators add to the difficulty. It's one of the dreams I haven't given up on yet....

Hooligan, I gotta see that tiki coop! Maybe it will inspire me. I have already decided my next coop or aviary has to be tiki

Hmm. Normal? Different? Shoot, you decide.

I'm 32, in school full time, work part time, so that equals usually never home. I am trying to raise a 7 year old daughter, and I usually fight (well, argue) with my hubby more often than others, although it seems we can't split up permanantly. The main things we argue about are my animals, and, frankly, he can kiss my booty about my critters! I had them when I met him, and I'll have them when he's gone! We also argue quite a bit about "after hours". I don't see the point, he does. Many times, I would rather spend my company with someone of the same sex, although I am not an unfaithful person. I secretly think I want a divorce.

I believe in God, and was raised strict Catholic, although I do not go to church. I miss my life in the country, and I will have that back someday. (This is just semi-country, in fact, my cat got run over last week). I only have one credit card, a car that's paid for, and I usually live paycheck to paycheck.

Okay, there's mine. Shoot, wondering what you guys are thinking of me now....hmmm

Amy, the fact that you are being REAL, is great. And so much better than pretending to be perfect or something you're not. IMO, we need more "real" people in the world... it helps everyone else be real, too.

Well, I know that my first though was "hey, she is human"!!!! None of us have a perfect life and I know that for all of us, there are good times and bad times.
