What other ways are you different? Besides the chicken thing :)

Fun thread!

Yeah, the chicken thing is pretty weird to most because I'm in a very tech / corporate based job in Silicone Valley.

Other things: Probably my diversity in hobbies: I love to learn and noodle over everything and then weave technology into it. Examples:

Gadgets and electronics
Entrepreneurial endeavors (my first real website: www.reviewum.com)
Gardening (www.TheEasyGarden.com)
Inkjet printers (www.Nifty-Stuff.com/forum)
LEDs (my non-profit project: www.WorldTorch.com
And pretty much everything having to do with the internet!

But what makes me really different from most people I know: My wife proposed to ME!

Some people take one-look at me and think i'm a super bad cold person, when really(and don't tell nobody now

) I really am one of the nicest supportive people you will meet. Of course i'm super protective of people, but you know I don't like watchin' people get pushed around, just like i don't like to get pushed around. The best way to describe it is this, I'm a junk yard dog, Hard when they need to be, but the biggest heart you can find. Well, now that i'm done with that...................................

I was vegetarian for 13 years, and have just started to prepare a small amount of meat--native animals only. I'm gay. I live with more animals than humans. I love grammar, poetry, farming, Charles Mingus, and Thomas Jefferson. I play the French Horn, though haven't the time to as I'd like. I'm a sprout farmer. No Booze, no smoke, no drugs. No cell phone, no cable, and I can't wait until the bunny ears on the TV don't work. No religion. I lean way left, but seem to prefer the company of conservatives, when I prefer human company at all. Just 2 & a half years ago I worked 24 stories up in a busy corporate international law firm and took the subway to work from a tiny apartment near the freeway--now I live just blocks from my job and I watch woodpeckers and chickens from my kitchen window in a house near a river with a mountain view. I feel better.

How am I NOT different? lol

Im really different from guys my age. I've never drank, smoked or done drugs. I'm a virgin til marriage and I hate rap music, well I do love DC Talk & Toby Mac,lol. I dont believe music should talk about sex, drugs, or degrading women. I could care less about driving a big fancy truck, and Im not looking for the hottest, most skinny girl out there, Im looking for the smart, nice one that will make me happy. Hmmm.... I really dont know what else, lol. I love to read, and I could care less what people think of me. Im completely different than everyone else in my family, right down to being left handed. Im the oddball, no doubt. I may come off as rude, but Im extremely shy. I prefer animals over people anyways, lol.

I am rather like that old quote "Mad Dogs and English Men (or woman) go out in the mid-day sun" I have become very hermit like, now prefering the company of my family (human) and my animals and of course the members of BYC! I am also a supporter of the UK's "Chicken Out" campaign which is to educate people regarding the dreadful life of battery hens, in August the campaign is set to rescue more battery hens and I am hoping to have at least 50 of them here at the farm to be wild and free as a chicken should be. I was really impressed with the quote on "Hooligan's" post re the robin redbreast, I amgoing to contact the battery hen welfare trust and pass that quote on (hope that is OK with you Hooligan?) hopefully they will use it in the campaign. If any of you get the time please check out the website, just type in chicken out campaign in google on the UK pages and please sign up as a supporter. Thanks chicken addicts.....xx

A Jedi knight, you sound like!

In common with my fellow BYC'rs, this is what I have found...

1.) Don't do plastic bags (I even take tupperware to restaurants so I don't get the Styrofoam doggie bags)
2.) Spiritual but not belonging to "organized" religion, organized = work, right?
3.) Reclusive/hermit
4.) Avid reader
5.) Love to camp
6.) Love to fish
7.) Used to be a neat freak, now I don’t see the point
8.) Drive old used car
9.) Hang dry my clothes regardless of season
10.) ALL electric appliances are shut off (circuit breaker/oven) only thing plugged in @ my house right now (that has the breaker on to) is the fridge, washer & the alarm clock.
11.) Overboard on the 3 r’s – my garbage can only hits the curb once every 2 months – I make it a game & try to see just how long I can go, have yet to set my “personal best”.

Adding one I haven’t seen is I am a bit of a fanatic on conserving H20. I now live in the 2nd driest state and believe it is my personal responsibilty to do so. I have a deep jetted tub that I use only once or twice a month (don’t worry I shower) but truly enjoy. A good deep soak in epson salts means having to bail it out to water the bedding plants (magnesium in salts get used 2x this way – just cause I’m so “frugal” ok, fine.....cheap).
Dish water gets poured out on them to. Would love to set up a more permanent grey water system, but I am a girl & live alone, I have no skills or money...... Ok, fine I’m lazy......which reminds me...

12.) I don’t lie – like the other poster said it takes too much effort

I'm an organic vegan. I still find people(at restaurants), even here in Los Angeles, that think chicken is not a meat when I ask them if they have something that is meatless.
Met my husband of 8 years online.
