Hi!
What is your favorite duck breed? I do not have ducks yet but I really like Pekin(we had a few for meat) I have a list of breeds but I think that my other favorite of the list to get( I love all ducks) is Welsh Harlequins. I am still thinl on Appleyards. So please tell me why you like them, their names if they have names, their breed, and how nice or aggresive they are. If you want thier gender too. And how many you have. Thank You! This is to help with with my breed choicetoo. I really just want to here everbodys ducks tales.

Welsh Hariquins are beautiful and lay elegantly of eggs. Calls are adorable and perfect. And Mallards have always been a favorite of mine, they got me into ducks in the first place.

Edit: plenty, not elegantly lol

I don't know how these breeds are called correctly in english, I just translated the names that are we used in Russia ))

I love large ducks for their size and their loud quacking. This year I was in trouble with a fox attack, but next year I hope to rebuild my stock by buying additional ducks (I usually keep about 200 ducks). I caught and killed the fox, and surrounded the territory with a high metal fence, with a reinforced concrete base around the entire perimeter, so next year it will be safer here. This autumn I am buying a new guard dog (my very old dog died last year and I haven't bought a new one yet). When the farm has a good dog, foxes are afraid to come.

Mallards, without a doubt. Beautiful, serene (for ducks). We also liked Black Ducks (a close relative to Mallards) and Blue Swedes, which were actually black with white breasts. We stay away from Khaki Campbells, they were very skittish and panicky. Not sure why, as we raised them all the same way. We ended up selling the KC when they were only a few weeks old. Muscovies are great too, but very different from the other ducks. They are slower, and sort of curious about their environment. Also, they eat bugs and ticks, to a greater degree than other ducks. But, They do fly, and will nest in trees, roofs, car tops, if the wings are unclipped. They also have little claws on their feet, which can pierce your skin .

Thanks, everyone. In the first week of November, I might get 6 Khaki Campbells from someone I know. they are adults. Any advice on them???
How many boys and girls is it? If there is more than one boy would you be able to cull or get rid of the extra? Khaki Campbells are among the friendliest ducks, from what I've heard. And great egg layers, too.
