What part of the "No Soliciting" do you not understand!

That's not a salesman, that's a THIEF!!!

Was probably just knocking first to see if you were home.

I would have called the cops, and waited inside with my "security" -- to make sure he got caught one way or the other.

That was happening just that way around here lately. 49 homes in 2 weeks by a group of teens who were knocking first and when no one answered they would break in. They got caught when some lady didn't answer the knock right away and they tried to get in. They are lucky no one shot them.

I put the No Soliciting sign next to the Beware of Dog sign. It worked for the aluminum siding salesmen and the storm windows salesmen, but the religious people still knocked. Finally one day I asked, "Is it that you can't read, or did you seriously not see the signs?" The answer? " Oh yes, I saw the sign, but I'm not trying to sell anything." humph! Ya coulda fooled me.

... have you ever considered that maybe one day, on the other side, in the after life, you might wish you had listened to that religious person who knocked on your door?

We have Jehovah's Witnesses come all the time. The witness to us, and we witness right back to them.

And I'm a sucker for a salesman that has something I might want.

If I'm busy, I simply tell them I don't have time and I'm not interested.

Oh... and the kids knocking on the doors.... my neighbor wished she'd called police last year when we got ripped off.

I still don't feel safe when we are away, even with the new security system.

you would think that my dog's sharp and constant barking is enough to scare some people off if they so much as made a noise outside trying to get to my door. didn't seem to stop 2 young girls from trying to sell magazines to win some sort of trip to the Caribbean or something like that. in our area i guess they now need a peddlers certificate or something, they showed something that looked like it was printed off a home computer with a cheesy picture of the girl. try to tell someone that is being so pushy and can't get the hint that you are trying to get housework done and they can't seem to take 'NO, i am NOT interested!' as an answer.

i'm tempted to put a definition of the word soliciting up right beside the sign and list what i deem a solicitor.

anyone ever see the movie 'Secondhand Lions'? the 2 old guys-the kid's uncles, used to shoot at every salesman that would venture onto their property. they'd be waiting on the porch with shot guns and the guys would go to get out of the cars to open the trunk and would get shot at and then run/drive away as fast as they could!

I try to be kind to anyone who comes to the door. I say no thank you politely. If they leave I wish whoever it is a pleasant day. If they insist on staying then I get snarky and the hundred pound dobie mix tells them good bye for me.

To me, they're looking to get more folks in the church on Sunday or whenever, because the collection plate isn't getting enough attention.

My dog makes such a noise, sometimes they leave before I get to the door!

I drove through a tiny town today on the way to visit relatives, all the houses were old, run down, some looked like they had attention, they were clean and newly painted but the roof was bad etc. etc.... almost at the edge of town we came to pass the church, big and fancy with a big fancy house - in perfect condition, pretty little benches outside, and flower pots.. nice cars.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
