What predator was this?

Thanks again, @fishsticks. For tonight we are putting out a live trap. If it's an opossum we'll transport it elsewhere. DH got some welded wire fencing and spent the day clearing and mowing so he can start installing it. We should be okay.

Well, the trap is set, all the chickens are safe in their coop and now all we can do is wait. We're hoping all the activity didn't cause our predator to decide to hunt elsewhere tonight, we'd really like to have an answer, and a resolution, TONIGHT! We'll keep you posted!

7:00 Monday a.m. Success! We have captured a young raccoon! :ya
He will be going for a ride this morning and will be released farther out in the forest.
Glad to hear you caught one, likely there are more.
Dispatch the critter, don't release it somewhere else where it will become a nuisance (someone else's problem) and trap wise to boot.

Oops, forgot to add photos. He is a cutie patootie, but ... I can't have him eating my chickadees! So long, Mr. Coon!
