What projects are you planning for spring?

Hmm, plans for spring . . .

!) Get a passport
2) Buy a ticket to Aruba, first class, single ticket
3) bask on the beach and have scantily clad young men bring me alcoholic bevera . . .

Wait. Crud. This is plans, not fantasies, right?

Oh okay, I'm putting a chain link run, bordered by fine wire along the bottom, around the current coop.
I'm also building a small, pea-gravel bottomed secure nighttime pen for the ducks I'm getting.
And I'll probably expand the garden some.
And paint several rooms of the house.
And I'll concrete a place to park the garbage cans so they're not always parked in front of my truck.
And if I'm exceptionally blessed, I'll finally get that back deck built, and/or get the downstairs done in tile instead of (shudder) carpet.

But man, I could almost taste those margaritas and smell the sea air.

I forgot!!!

Hopefully... I get to build my duck habitat this year!!

Got a busy spring schedule...

Build a chicken tractor, fix my other tractor, plant a garden, landscape the back 40(mowing, raking, pruning, sawing, etc), keep the chicks healthy. No big whoop!

Gonna build a third coop.

Yes, this is for 7 chickens which already have two coops. They sleep in one, and "play" in the other. (Bug hunts in the corners, scratching in the litter, walking up and down the ramp, taking naps when it's rainy outside.)

I have some more chicks to buy to bring my flock up to ...ohhhh...... maybe 12 birds? So the new ones will have to be brought up in either the "play" coop or the new, third coop. Probably the latter. Then I'll integrate them, eventually, and try to get the current flock take over the NEW coop for sleeping and laying.

I might sell the second coop. Dunno.

First attempt at building a new coop, for 5-6 standards and a couple of Bantams (to be acquired in the spring) Very excited and feeling a bit daunted by the task at hand...:)
I'm trying to reduce/re-use/re-cycle as best I can, and re-purpose materials found - love that freecycle! (Wish me luck!)

Good Luck!

Yikes, I'm still in the planning stages and don't have the guts to tell hubby what I'm thinking for spring yet! But here goes:

1) 100% most definitely, definitely, definitely have to get that window put in the hen house!
2) Eliminate 3 nesting boxes since we have 9 but they all use only 2-3
3) Create more/better roosts for them
4) Figure out a way to incorporate either more turkeys or a couple of geese
5) Build a house within the pen for the geese if we go that way
6) Figure out a way for the chickens to really free range without pooping all over hubbys pole barn and him getting mad at me
7) Redo their sandbox
8) Fix hot wire that keeps failing
9) Put a box type of thing around the outside of the pop door so chickens don't get so much of a breeze when open

I could keep going......
