What should I do about this?
It's on the side of the hock so I don't think it's sore hock. Also, he has a nice, clean, wire cage with a wood board to sit on. He is by far my dirtiest rabbit, it's like he doesn't know how to go to the bathroom properly. I clean him up nicely in the morning, pull him out in the afternoon to work with him and he's full of urine again. I was thinking maybe it's hutch burn from him spraying his hocks repeatedly, but there's urine everywhere on the side of his hock, but this spot.
I put some neosporin on it. I've been checking him over more than normally because he's my showmanship rabbit. I never noticed anything wrong till today when, all of a sudden, it was there.
Should I try to drain it?

I went to the livestock sale and there was a lady there who shows rabbits. It was very interesting talking to her. I bought a mini satin buck and doe and a Dutch buck. Does anyone know of a good book with information on color genetics in rabbits?

I am starting with rabbits now. I have mixed breeds to dip my foot in the water, but I'm quickly becoming addicted to them! I think I am overwhelming my husband!

The rabbits I have were all given to me. It's crazy how many people want to get rid of rabbits!

We started with a mini rex given to us for my daughter. The family had 2 little boys that were not interested in her. She's oversize, I believe called a brooder doe? She is also blind in one eye. We call her Mrs. Sugarfoot because she has one white paw.

Then we were given Captain Jack and his 4 children. He is sweet. I thought he was a Broken Black New Zealand, but he's only 7 1/2 lbs. Mix or just small?

His children were only 6 weeks. I figured that the black one and white one were both bucks. We rehomed the white one (the smallest of the litter) as a pet because he was so sweet. The two broken blacks are both female, but we are only keeping one of them.

Buck named Captain America by my son.

This doe is Susan, we plan on keeping her.

We also have a Flemish/Dutch mix we call Mocha. She just kindled (father was Captain Jack). It was a litter of 9, but only 1 survived.

But it was her first litter, so that's not too bad.

Our last is Zoe. I have no clue what she is. A neighbor who found out we had rabbits asked us to take her. She was not getting attention. Her nails were so long! She's getting used to us after treats of rose branches and grape vines!

I really enjoy them. I would love to find some Standard Rex rabbits, but they seem to be a rarity!

They are cute! Standard Rexes are awesome. MUCH better than minis in my opinion. Sadly, I don't have room for another large rabbit right now. Rexes are pretty common where I live. Have you tried the ARBA website's breeder directory? It has a list of breeders and their contact info, and it's separated by state and breed.

I have! The nearest breeder I can find is over 4 hours away and that is a major trip with a 6 yo, 4 yo and 5 month old! I may have to put my Standard Rex plans off a few years. There is a breeder near where my sister lives in Florida, but if I asked her to get one next time she comes up to visit she wouldn't know what to look for.
