UnlabelledMama, you might see if there is going to be an ARBA sanctioned show that is reasonably close to you. The Show Secretary could tell you whether there are any Rex rabbits entered; I have certainly seen them at shows in the past.

There is a lady in our little town that raises Rex bunnies, but we are in TN.
Has anyone tried those brass drinkers from Ebay? You hook them up to a bucket with tubing. I set one up, but not sure how well it is working.

The nearest ARBA show to me is NC Mountain State Fair in Asheville in September. We will have to go this year!

Ok guys I need some help Im buying a rabbit for the first time in 5 years Its a toss up between Flemish giant and Rex, I dont know what colors are available yet, I dont have kids so thats not an Issue I plan on breeding her a couple of times, Im so excited, Im leaning toward Rex but Some of the flemish are prettty also!!

Thanks
Aldo

I don't know much about either breed, I've never had either one. Always been into Holland Lops. I do know there are a lot of rabbit breeders in CT tho! (That's my home state)

Yes there are, I jusy got incontact with a rex breeder 40$ with tattoo and papers!! and all her does have won at fairs ,not bad, Ive seen some rediculous prices

Glad you found someone. I knew of a mini rex breeder in S Windsor years ago, doubt she's even still breeding unless her kids got into them of course. $40 isn't bad at all. I was never one to spend a ton of money on a rabbit. My husband always said, "if we're going to spend more than $100 on another animal it's going to be a dog, not something that sits in a cage all day" lol

I would go with the Rex. They are awesome. Plus, if this is your first time raising rabbits in five years, you may want to get used to them again before you buy the biggest breed on the market.

Lol I think he would leave me if I ever spent that much on a rabbit (back in the day when into breeding and showing) back then I thought $75 was a lot! These days I've heard people say they spent $200 or more some even $350 on a rabbit! I bought my first dachshund for that price from a breeder! We have the mind set- if we have that kinda money, what else that is more valuable can we spend it on. No offense of course to anyone who sells for those prices, or buys them at those prices, just not my cup of tea is all. :)
