You might be able to paint the wood, so it's more sanitary. Are there paints out there that aren't poisonous? I think there's some that are water based.

I'm liking this pegboard idea.

i don't think there are any paints that would really work, if they chew on it and ingest any of it, it could cause problems. and i'd be worried about the rabbits chewing on the peg board, the glue that holds it together could be a problem. i don't really know, but that would be my concern

Last month (may)a week after my birthday my BEW jersey wooly doe gave me a healthy litter of 5 3 BEWS and two VM's :) they are growing like weeds!

congrats! i love wooly babies, they are super cute. pictures?

If there is no way the rabbits could ever get to chew on it, paint would be fine, however, I think the acid in the rabbit urine might eventually peel the paint off.

oil based paint might hold up against urine better than water based, but i don't know. oil based would also seal better, keeping the urine from soaking in and stinking.

This is my little miracle bunny as of yesterday. It no longer fits in my hand. It is 4 weeks old tomorrow. I've been hand feeling it for over 3 weeks.

I think pegboard would just give the rabbits places to start chewing. Better off with a piece of plywood or board across the bottom of the divider and wire along the top. So far my bucks are not peeing or spraying at each other. I just have wire between them. But the girls are in their own pens, not right next to the males.
