What does a lavender English Spot look like? Do you have a picture? I tried googling it but all I got were english spots.
Looks like a lionhead to me. And even though they technically are albinos, in rabbits, we don't call 'em that. The "proper" term is Ruby-Eyed White.(I'm not a fan of albinos) but that thing is so cute! Is it some sort of angora mix?
I live in north Idaho and between the days that she had them and when she died it didn't get over 80 degrees and even when its hot they get frozen water bottles. And the really wierd part is that she acted completely normal and showed no signs of anything being wrong
But fair shows ARE ARBA shows... And they're one of the few shows close enough to me to get to. XP I don't drive and all my friends WANT to go to the fairs, not the ARBA shows.
I don't understand; if people want a show to have quality rabbits in it then they should enter quality rabbits into the show instead of just going "it's a fair show. Clearly nobody worth their salt will be there. The rabbits will be terrible". If you went, you'd be there and worth your salt and not terrible... And what'd happen? You get real competition or you win first place? The horror. And the judges are ARBA judges that judge all over the place still. The fact is they still DQ lots of rabbits that are poor quality. If people with quality animals showed up more, they'd DQ animals with bad traits more. If just ONE English lop showed up that met breed standard other than the sick one, that rabbit would have never gotten BOB at that event. So if people want fair shows to be any good, all they really have to do is enter them!

Are you sure these animals were being seen by an ARBA judge? The reason I ask is that open sores on the feet, infected eyes, being seriously underweight - all of these are automatic DQ's (some DQ's are a judgement call). Technically, animals with some of these problems shouldn't even be allowed to remain in the showroom. Any judge worth his judge's license is going to put all of them off of the show table - I've had animals DQ'd for things like a broken claw or a group of about 20 white hairs where they shouldn't have been, for Heaven's sake! The rest of the breeds each got terrible representation... Usually by a sick rabbit. Many of the rabbits there had moderate to severe eye infections. The rabbit that won BOB for English lops was emaciated, dirty and could barely see. The winner for Californian BOB had a big sore on one of her feet. The winner for Rex BOB was old and covered in so much skin it wrinkled all over like a Shar-Pei. Many of the rabbits were outright DQ'd for not being anywhere near breed standard and no awards were given for the breed. The French lop BOB also had weepy eye. Most of them had eye problems, were dirty, were not doing well...
