Unfortunately our fairs are looked on poorly by most breeders and I take it from some of the people I've spoken to that's pretty common for fairs. Maybe it's because many don't have rules like that in place...!

Hello everyone... Can anyone help me with a little problem I'm having? We got a Pedigreed Jersey Wooly doe Thursday and she is extremely sweet but make growling/grunting noises when you pick her up the "Leave me the heck alone" type.... We got 3 pedigreed bucks on Saturday and bred her to one on Tuesday and today after cleaning her cage I was puting her food and water back in and she tried to attack my hand, growling and trying to claw me.... I put my hand over her shoulder and pushed her down a couple of times like I understand your supposed to do and she was still growling and lunging at me... I let her run around the house for about an hour a day so I doubt it's lack of exercise....

(On a happier note we had our first litter last Tuesday, second time doe had 9 kits :th )

I am NOT an expert or even highly experienced but with that said, I will share my personal experience. I got two rabbits. They were 8 weeks old and we were very kind and gentle, but they as they grew they growled, scratched and bit. I rehomed them and ended up with 2 very young sweet rabbits that are super tame and one that was 1 year old when we got her that was tense when we would hold her but she is coming around with gentle handling and treats. Of course, my rabbits are not for breeding, they are pets only, so I could not keep rabbits that were aggressive.

I can understand that of course, most of my rabbits are pets that turned into a hobby... this particular doe is currently living in the house but she might be moving outside if she keeps it up... I wish I knew what caused it she's normally so sweet, she even chatters her teeth while I'm grooming her (that's a good sign right?
She's not grinding like she's in pain)...

It's possible being with the buck and having her cage cleaned and everything upset her. Lay newspapers or something it would be okay for her to chew over her cage so it's dark. The less disturbance, the better, since rabbits can abort their young early in the pregnancy.

Teeth sound is good. Had she ever been breed before? Maybe that threw her off.

I may be off but could it be because she is pregnant? How long have you had her for? Of you've had her a while has she ever acted this way before? I know when I've bred rabbits in the past I placed them with the buck on day 1, let them breed a couple of times, remove the doe and place her in the cage the next day. If she growled the pregnancy took and I removed her right away. So could it be that odd that maybe she's just a grumpy preggo??? I would leave her alone, maybe out her outside like you planned, let her have this litter and see how she is after the the kits are weaned. Just my thoughts...

The people we bought her from said they got her at an auction and their buck wouldn't breed her so they sold her... she seemed experienced when we put her with our buck and when you run you hand over her rump she picks up her hindquarters as for a buck... She's no spring chicken so I'm sure she's probably had at least one litter in her lifetime, but this will probably be the only time we breed her...

We bought her Thursday so a week tomorrow... I can understand her being moody being pregnant but she was fine literally 10 minutes before, but I guess I can try to keep contact to a minimum if that might help.
