Not a rabbit, but had to share...

There's a local "zoo" Animal Rescue which is mostly a giant petting zoo of animals people couldn't keep, but they have some exotic animals they rescued from people that had them illegally or weren't cared for. Their tigers bred and had a baby, which is pretty uncommon in captivity. She's 6 weeks old and the kids (and adults) got to pet & snuggle her.

My vet recently did some work at the place in Myrtle Beach. She showed me some pictures of her with a couple tigon cubs (tiger/lion hybrids). She also had pics of her daughter helping to bathe the elephant - in the river!

A generation or two ago, there were a lot of roadside zoos with animals kept in deplorable conditions. Public outcry closed most of them down, but the desire to see exotic animals still exists. I suspect a lot of these "rescues" are essentially zoos by another name, but if the animals are well cared for, I've got no problem with that.

This place takes in the animals that get caught at those other type of places or from circuses stuff like that.
It's a shame that they will never get to live in the wild, but at least they are in a better place.
They have a giraffe there that was on the Rachael Ray show after it was found in a garage in Ohio.
One of their tigers at this place was actually from that photo-op place in Myrtle Beach, they didn't need it anymore because they got a "better" one.
It's really sad what people do to animals.

SOOOOO, the Altex rabbit Peter we took in like a month ago, is actually Petunia.
They had said before they brought him it was a male and I assumed my husband looked at him. All the times I held him I guess I never thought to double check.
Went to change their water bottle again this afternoon since it's hot & he's pulling fur and building a nest....

Lol. That seems to happen an awful lot with rabbits. Glad you caught her before she kindled so you can give her a nice nest box

Do you have any reason to believe she is actually pregnant, or is she being hormonal and ridiculous (false pregnancy?)

Honestly I have no idea.
She doesn't "look" pregnant, but she's huge so could be hiding it.
Until a couple hours ago I was convinced it was a he.
It's entirely possible because she was in with the boys. I never saw any mate with her, but it doesn't mean they didn't.
I have her inside now in a 6'x2.5' cage with 2 levels. I put all the fur in there she pulled, and she's building a nest in the underneath hideaway part.
I felt her belly and don't feel anything in there. Honestly, it kinda looks like she has balls, but I guess it's just the fur, she doesn't have a penis...
Guess I will know for sure in a couple days...

Is it possible you could get a pic?

So this morning my rabbit had babies! Last litter on this hobby farm! I got rid of my male a few weeks ago. I don't know how many yet when I went out she was in the process of having them. I will post pictures later
