So a female marks their territory as well? I am used to cats, so I know males cats do this...didn't know a female would. I am guessing on the age as well. Could be younger then I suppose. Is there a way to tell?

These are our newest and most colorful litter. Last one til February, we've now got 24 babies on our hands and we are first timers!

The only kit that doesn't show up good in the picture is the harlequin. Here it is.

Oh and I wasn't choosing to breed, but I was thinking about getting another rabbit so she isn't so lonely. I didn't want baby bunnies and heard if you place the same sex they could fight. Any thoughts on this?

She's lived this long without a friend, maybe she wouldn't appreciate a newbie on the turf she's had for herself for so long? My two cents on it, for what that's worth.

Adorable popples. <3

For sure a lady :)

Smaller breeds of rabbits can mature & breed as early as 3 mths old. However is is best to wait till they are about 6 mths old or so for their 1st breeding. (sorry I have not worked with large breeds to give their info) Once a doe/girl has reach a 1yr old, if they have never been bred, it can become very difficult to do so. I would not even try after they are a 1yr old personally.

Did a vet give you her estimated age? What popped into my head first after reading the 8yr old bit--- is that she may have been altered at some point earlier in her life - otherwise she falls into the 20% of Does that get thru life without uterine cancer after age 4.

Thank you for giving her a home :) always a good day when someone takes in a helpless animal

--side note--
like poultrypower says- most breeders retire does around age 4
This is partly because age itself & also many start lacking in "performing" many of these downfalls are from the development of tumors etc..

sorry to keep rambling about does & getting cancer - it just jumps from 4 - 6% all the way up to 80% when they not fixed & turn 4 .
