Steel happens at the E locus; things happen at all of the other loci just as per usual. You can have Chocolate Steels, Blue Steels, etc. The Steel gene extends the dark pigment further on the hair shaft than it usually goes in an Agouti-patterned rabbit, nearly covering the light middle band. A Gold-tipped Steel is the Steel version of a Chestnut Agouti. The Silver-tipped Steel is basically a Steeled Chinchilla.

Shows, or KW Cages. Most of the time KW will be at shows, and you can preorder and pick up at the show. Or, you can get them from craigslist. I got one 4 hole and one 3 hole for 50 dollars, which was the amount of money I paid for a brand new two hole from KW (which someone stole at a show and we never got back.)

Hey all. I have a color question

I just recently took in a mini rex buck.(have never had them before) Well While at the feed store I noticed a little bunny that looked like a mini rex as well(a little doe).

Person wasn't sure if it was full mini rex or if it had Netherland dwarf mixed in as well. I am not worried about that, I fell in love with her as soon as she ran up to the cage door to greet me!

I don't know much about Mini Rex, I've only owned 1 my entire life. I'm going to go with Castor?!? Google Castor Mini Rex, a lot of the images look something like what you've got there. Very cute!!!

No, that's not a Mini Rex. It's pretty much a dwarf with a rex coat. I don't have any pics of a comparable age, but here is a pic of a couple of 3-week-old Mini Rex. As you can see, their ears and faces are longer in proportion than the Chestnut in inthesticks's picture. That color sometimes is incorrectly identified as Castor, but Castor is a much deeper, richer shade of brown.

Yeah I was pretty much sure she was part ND ->but the color --- I would still call it chestnut then I suppose & it just looks a little off since the mini rex texture is very present....?
I am still a bit
