Can you buy Pen BP-48 over the counter for your rabbits? And where would I get a syringe with a needle?
I think I'm going to treat my rabbits for vents disease. My does are still refusing breeding and now one kind of looks sickly.
No one has any irritated looking vents expect for the one I posted pictures of.
I don't know if this is normal, but when I open the vent to look in, the rabbit's legs shake...is this discomfort or something else?
Does anyone have any other suggestions? I really want to get my girls health back up and this is the only thing I can think of.

I don't know about the medicine, but I'm pretty sure you can't buy syringes with needles OTC. When I needed needled syringes, I asked someone I know who is a nurse to get them for me. Do you know anyone who works at a hospital? I'm sure they could sneak them to you.

I don't, but my feed store sells vaccines you can give to your pets at home, I'm hoping they will have some.

You can get a couple versions of the penicillin at your local feed store. I've got bicillin in the fridge, great stuff and pretty cheap. If you need help calculating dosages, I'm happy to get my pharmacist hubby to help figure it out.

Not sure on the syringes. Hubby has always kept me up to my eyeballs in that sort of stuff. I can offer a bit of advice - if you're going to be using a suspension (the penicillin is), make sure you get a large enough needle gauge. The smaller ones you won't be able to draw the med through as it's very thick. Something like a 21 gauge or larger. A 3cc syringe is the smallest I'd use, just because I like to have room in there to move. It's also not a bad idea with those meds to add in an equal amount of saline or lactated ringers to keep bunny from developing sterile abscesses.

Not a vet, just have unfortunately had quite a bit of experience doing this sort of stuff.

Good luck!

be careful giving injections! rabbit have a natural balance of good bacteria in their belly vital to digestion . normall antibiotic for a dog or human could kill a rabbit. I would consult a exotic pet veterinarian

what kind of rabbit is he? he's wicked cute!!

Goliath is a single mane Lionhead. He started off dark charcoal.... got slightly lighter gray on his sides - then the lighter sides turned cream - then grew in orange fur on top his head & now looks like he does in the photo - He has changed so many times it's crazy!
