I totally agree with the scratching and my kids quickly learned how bad a rabbit can scratch when we first got our buns as babies! So instead they just ask for me take them out of their cages and either inside where they can hop around freely or in the "pen" we have for outdoors so my kids can sit in the grass with them without the rabbits running away.

That's a good way to do it. They can enjoy their bunnies while keeping both the kids and the rabbits safe.

Hi, all!

New to BYC and pretty new to rabbits. We got our starter buns last summer (CA/NZ) and decided to breed them all so that we'd have Easter bunnies to share. Have about 23 kits to rehome at the moment, but man are they fun! I'm even going to keep one of the kits. Most of them turned out black, white, siamese cat colored (seal point?), charcoal brown, or natural brown.

But the one I'll be keeping is a very pretty orange marmalade with gray marbling. We're gonna move her inside as soon as she's 6 weeks and try to have a house bunny. Never done that before. I imagine keeping her in a cage with litter pan, then gradually letting her out for more and more time is the best way to acclimate her while litter training her and making her feel safe in the house?

The photo is Charcoal with her kits, taking a sun break from the barn. Trigger the puppy is supervising.

I need bunny advice. Our new bunny is digging a "bunny hole" along the perimeter of our chicken coop. It doesn't appear very deep, only a bunny body worth. We do have a concrete perimeter around the outside of the coop that extends about 6-8 inches below the ground surface.

Do I let him make his nest or plug it up????

I'd say, if it doesn't bother you or the chickens, let him dig. It's his natural instinct and I'm sure he's having a lot of fun doing it.

Just let him dig. It's their instinct. As long as nothing is being damaged. After a few days you can cover it up. And, it' not really a nest they're making, it's just fun for them.

I have a rabbit that's not on that list ;( and I love him to pieces !! I couldn't imagine life w/o him although I'm sure my dog could! Hahaha they have a love/hate relationship . His name is Rex and he's actually my 4 yr olds rabbit { he's REALLY my snugglyBunny baby} he is AWESOME!
Idk why this breed isn't on there .. But Rex is a FLEMISH GIANT weighing in at 25.2 lbs and almost 3 ft long . He eats 6 cups of food a day plus hay and has full run of our house lol . He's a riot! We enjoy him so much . Everyone should have a Flem!
