Kuntry girl, your cages are wonderful!! as I said before, they are perfect I wish I could have a nice setup like that, The ones I saw on youtube were those sizes with FG and Checkered giants and they had a nest box in there too, I looked at all their videos and thats were they stayed even when the babies were almost weaned sometimes 8 at a time, thats what i'm talking about, of course they were nevvvver dirty at all none of the videos they were all very clean, im sure they were FG cause that what they started off saying they were at the beginning of the videos,

I want hanging cages so bad! I really want those nice automatic cleaning ones KW always advertises in the arba magazine.

This is another reason to use kindling cages because if a rabbit had babies in these the babies could fall through the wire and die. I breed Netherlands that never get to leave their cage but they are still super papered! Netheralnds have room to run around in every cage:lol: . I am pretty sure they enjoy their air-conditioned/heat lamp heated shed. I would be wary of letting my rabbits roam around because they can easily get parasites and diseases from wild rabbits and a lot of the grass have chemicals and pestacides.

I put the nesting boxes in when it's time to have their babies. So far over the last 8 years, no problems with babies falling through the wires. :fl

And no problems at my place with chemicals or pesticides. We won't use anything on the grass for that particular reason. I guess I've been lucky over the last 8 years because they have not contracted any parasites or diseases. Not health issues at all.

I imagine most people here on BYC have chickens? Anyone with chickens, especially those that free range, know how bad chemicals and pesticides could be to their chickens, nevermind rabbits. So I would think anyone here who lets their rabbits roam free does not use pesticides.

:thumbsup

You must have been reading my mind. :D ;)

Here's an update picture of the kits, they're 3 days old today.

Maybe you can tell in this one how I mentioned earlier the one I questioned being all white has some gray tint to it's ears now..

apparently there are a few colors that are born pink like that that then grow into color. i don't remember it much from when i raised before, but apparently American Sables that are the "proper" color are born pink then turn a fairly dark brown. the ones that are born dark are too dark (for show). i don't know rex colors (i know they express differently than regular fur types) but you may have whatever the equivalent color with that one. either way, it will probably grow up supper cute.

and now i cannot wait for my doe to have babies. i have to build the nest box this weekend, since she is due in a week. assuming she is actually bred
