So I have a blue New Zealand buck that I am going to breed to the Broken black doe. She had a blue broken and a blue Charlie kit in the litter with her. One of her parents was black and the other was broken black so they obviously carry the dilute gene, my question is how likely is it that she hides it also?

She's got a 66% chance of carrying the gene if blue/dilute is recessive. (Sorry, not up on rabbit coat color genetics)

Hi everyone, I have a quick question.

I tried to breed two of my Holland Lops, a couple days ago. The buck knows what to do, but my doe won't have any of it. She doesn't run, just crouches, and won't lift for him. They're both young, 8-9 months old, so I expect the doe to not exactly know what to do in the beginning, but I tried again today and it's still the same. What can I do?

She probably just isn't in heat. Put her in with him in the morning for a while and then back that night. Rabbits are induced ovulaters so it should bring her into heat.

Yes, I've heard that. I also read that when their vent area is a dark red color that they are in heat. Is that true?

Could be the time of year. Short days can turn some does off. None of mine are in the mood lately since I nixed the extra winter light. Ah well, I'll try again in February.

Buck is trying his hardest but the doe won't have it. The thing is, she's so comfortable she grooms herself while the buck is doing his job, so it's not that she scared. She just won't lift.
