Hi, I have 1 American White doe, 5 American Black kits, and 2 American Gray kits.
I am sort of new to rabbits but enjoy learning about them (in particular, coat color genetics).
I only saw American Fuzzy Lops in the "poll box" above and am not sure if I can join.
If I can, may I?
Thanks.

I think if my eyes are telling the truth, you have, I Brocken, one sable point, one himialayn, one tri. Need single photos of each. Lol. Cute, very cute though.
Sorry, but this is impossible. REW, Himi, and Siamese-type shading all happen in the same gene series. Between the two parents, there can only be a total of 4 genes here. Kimmerjo has told us that there are two REW babies in the litter. Since REW is the most recessive in the series, the only way kimmerjo can have REW babies is if both parents have at least one copy each of the REW gene. So, between the parents, that's 2 REW genes. One parent is a broken black (full color) and the other a broken - hmmm, looks like a tort? (also full color). That's all 4 genes in the series accounted for, this pair can't produce shaded or Himi.

Ok thank you, I'm still learning about the how gene thing and how they get there colors. Thank you, I learned another thing today. :)

Quote: I'm new to coat color genetics so please tell me, is REW a color?
Yes, It's the true albino color, the white rabbit with pink eyes. In rabbits, we don't call them albinos, we call them Ruby-eyed Whites, or REW for short (not to be confused with BEW, which is the Blue-eyed White).
