Wow until you really get past the "oh I want a bunny" u never know what can really go into raising, breeding, showing one.
I do have a question this morning about urine/stools of rabbits. I prefer composting what I can of household waste, long as I got healthy animals I will use their wastes in a garden but when I had some lops 15 yrs ago the areas we put their cage well lets say it took 15 yrs to get weeds to even grow there lol. So how can I utilize their waste? How can I keep or on what schedule rotate into compost it? Any hazards? Right now since im pretty small animal wise we put in bags and take to be burned with local trash. Sanitation is a big issue here and coming from a recycling state well im trying not to let stuff stack up but toss responsible. Suggestions I can incorporate into my homestead plans? Here they look at composting as rat problems in the making as well as flies. Its an educational process too.
Actually you do raise a "silly" question I have had for a while. Bunny urine is strong. My used bunny hay has pellets and urine in it. So I assumed that the hay is good in the beds, urine and all, right? It has to be okay bec how would you separate urine from pellets? Lol. But I didn't know if it had to be composted or could go directly on the beds.
I use fresh bunny 'gold' as fertilizer it works for me
