I am picking up a doe tomorrow night!

what breed?

A new pic of our mini rex buck, Potter. He's so cute!

So, all of our other four rabbits are does, and we are finding having a buck to be quite a different experience! If we let our girls out of their play yards, they immediately run into a huge ginger plant and start digging, or try to escape into our neighbors yard. When we let Potter out, he runs around us in circles, chases us like a dog, pees on everything (including us if he can), but never goes more than a few feet away from us. And if we walk away he follows us. Is this a buck thing, or is he just a funny bunny? He cracks me up chasing my kids!
love the rich coloring. hes fur looks amazing in color and depth. you have a great breeding buck/doe there. my bucks do that to. i think its a buck thing.

Guess I should be happy with my buck. He rubs his mouth on spots around the patio but only pees in two spots, the coop and a sand box. He sits outside the coop now watching our new doe and looking like hey you bought her for me! 3 more months young man. Hoping I can get settled soon, everytime I plan stuff I get setbacks. Now I looked out today and saw that the chicks got up and ate one of my basil plants. I give them greens and fresh food all they can eat and I still get them going after my garden plants.

Thanks! We got him to breed with our solid black doe eventually. She has a great shape and did okay at the last 4H show, but she has white scatter so she would be dq at an ARBA show. I spoke with a great breeder and ARBA judge, and he said to breed her with a broken, that the scatter is almost impossible to clean up. I actually got the buck from him, the buck's dad was ninth at nationals last year, and his grand dam was second a couple of years ago!

These are our does, all three of our mini rexes are still a little young and we probably won't breed until next spring. But we will see!

Piper is the black, she has a good shape, but some white scatter. Penny is the tort, her color is pretty good for a red, but she is a little narrow through the shoulders and a little thin. We're trying to plump her up a bit!

That white scatter on the doe with a few breeding s could come out. Love your does. They look thick in the coat with is amazing. They both have rich colors.

Thanks Sternrose! We love our mini rex bunnies, the rex coats are so soft. We would also like to breed our tort eventually, but I would want a different buck. It's trickier to find a good quality red than black, at least around here. I found a lovely broken castor buck, but I have to do more genetic studying before I decide what to breed her with. My kids 4h project has turned into quite an adventure! She does have a pretty nice coat, and was second in mini rexes at our last 4h show, but she is a little thin/narrow. Since she is just five 1/2 months, we're hoping she will get a little thicker/rounder in the next month or so.
