OK - so the first breeding was a a no go. My buck was not interested. My doe was all kinds of interested (at least from what I made up about her actions) He displayed some interest but when it came time to doing the deed on the proper end, well lets just say he's a gentleman. He actually seemed at times like he was in a trance or completely baffled. Am I the only person with a buck that's not interested in does? My daughter is laughing at me because I also have a hen that is not interested in laying eggs. She's only ever laid 6 eggs in her life and she's only 2.

Tomorrow will be another attempt with my other doe. Maybe he's just too young yet at 5 months old. The does are quite a bit larger and older than him. Let me know what you think. I'm in no rush. when the time is right it will happen.

Leave him with the doe for a day, then play the waiting game.

Thanks for the feedback Stern rose. I did consider that but she's not as heat tolerant as he is due to her size and being spoiled. I'm using either early morning or around sunset to bring the females to the bucks cage. He's kept outside (he was an outside rabbit when I got him) and they are inside. I was shocked when he was able to handle 100 degrees without looking the least bit stressed. Of course he had frozen water bottles and cold water to drink but my big girls were lethargic when it got over 80 and were moved indoors. I'm excited to mix his heat tolerance with their nice fur and size.

They just had no interest in mating. After a week of the nonsense I just gave up trying with the two. Now I don't keep pairs in the same cage together.

I have a mini rex. Her name is Sheila! She's the sweetest most spoiled bun in the world. She thumps and crawls under your hand until you pet her. She likes to play hide-n-seek with the dogs and still tries to to play with the chickens even though theyre mean to her. C:

They were 8 mo. old  They never became a dad so I did eventually make rabbit stew out of them .  I think it had something to do with being raised with a another  buck.  They just had no interest in mating.  After a week of the nonsense I just gave up trying  with the two. Now I don't keep pairs in the same cage together.

I raised to Flemish cross bucks together, and they would mate with the does but I'd never breed them.
I also raised my mini Rex bucks together and both sired many litters.

So it took less than a week yo sale the 5 Netherland Dwarf Bunnies. At 8 weeks old I advertised them and 5 days later all are sold. Think I will breed the Lionheads now. Blue Tort doe × Siamese Sable buck.

That picture on my avatar is a Cali Nz Flemish he is very large he is a altex rabbit.

I also raised my mini Rex bucks together and both sired many litters.

Well then if that's the case my rabbits were just stupid and didn't like the does. And did not know what to do with them .
