Today is day 29 for our doe. First time breeding. I am crazy with anticipation. (well crazier than normal) It's hard to contain myself with the pictures of babies popping up all over this thread.

How exciting! Is she nesting yet? Hope you let us know how it goes!

No nesting. She is getting more temperamental about me being anywhere near the nest box though. She hops in and out of it and scratches around, but no mayor construction or fur pulling yet. We are on day 30. Sorry about the countdown but I don't know anyone else who understands the anticipation I am going through.

Oh I understand! I was right there a week ago! My one doe pulled fur 2 days before she kindled but she is also a lot more experienced. The other doe pretty much kept kicking out the shavings and I kept putting more in :/ I think she was laughing behind my back! and she didn't pull fur till she kindled this is her 2nd birth

We're all back from the fair here. My daughter's a happy camper. She won the Halloween costume contest with her REW Netherland Dwarf doe Snowdrop, and her Smoke Pearl ND doe won Best in Show. This is Wyldan's Silver Charm, she's DD's avatar here:

I lost a kit this morning.

Momma most have squished her. They were a week old Monday. I know there are loses all the time but it is still hard every time you lose one. But on a good note the other 7 kits are fat and happy!

Oh no! Sorry to hear, it's always hard losing them :( At least you still have seven, a very decent number. Hopefully the rest of them grow up healthy and strong :)

Aw, that so sad. I'm sorry chickadee. At least the rest are okay.

Is that something that just sometimes happens? Did something scare/startle the mom?

I am not sure what happened but I lost another one last night

I don't know if they are colder but she likes to sit at the front of the nest box and I don't know if that is when she sits on them but I do not know how to discourage her from doing that. I am going to put more bedding in when I get home from work and hope that it will help.

I don't want to lose another one!

OMG - She needs a parenting class

. I think my buck must have been shooting blanks. Based on the gestational calculators on the web, my doe should have had them yesterday. She was bred on 10/12. No pulling fur. I checked out our non pregnant doe last night and noticed wave like movement in her abdominal area as well. I totally assumed the one I bred was pregnant based on the movements I saw in her belly area. Now I think it's just their digestive system working overtime. I'll leave the nest in for a couple of more days, just in case. Will try again. Now that the weather has cooled down over hear (at least to the 80's during the day) Maybe he'll be more fertile. Thanks for riding the roller coaster with me.
