If it’s egg laying you’re after, few birds will surpass Leghorns in that regard. Maybe red sex links could, but those are far too unhealthy to be added to anyone’s breeding programme, much less a backyard keeper’s.

Rhode Island Reds and Plymouth Rocks are both dual purpose breeds, to my knowledge.
Egg production should be ok, but they wouldn’t exactly be my first choice

I would get white leghorn, for one they are excellent layers, 2nd the white cockerels will be easier to clean if your planning on butchering them, I will never keep dark chickens for butchering, it takes so long for them to lose their pin feathers that they get too tough for frying, now you can skin them, that’s what I had to do with my RR, I butchered leghorn and they didn’t have many at all.

Your only criteria is egg production in future generations. You did not mention eggshell color, feather color, or raising them for meat, just egg production. All of your hens are full sized fowl.

Based on egg production and the size of your hens a Leghorn would be a great choice, especially one from a flock bred for egg production. Leghorns typically lay a lot of eggs and those eggs are fairly large. Their bodies are fairly small compared to some others so any pullets you hatch should be relatively smaller, which means they save you money as they don't need to eat as much to maintain a larger body.

Good luck!

The males of both breeds will get much too big and heavy for most of your hens.
