Hi knowledgeable people :frow:frow. I now have 3 Marans - 2 blue and one BCM the black and one of the blues are the same age - 21.5 weeks and the other blue is 11 weeks today. Here are some pics starting with the 11 weeker (sorry the first pic is actually the older blue but can't seem to edit the photos):

I really want to know what they are so I can deal with any boys as it is silly just feeding them if I'm not keeping them for breeding (I already have 2 cockerals I'm keeping so can't really keep anymore unless I have a particularly nice roo which I could use for my future easter egger breeding). Thanks in advance for your verdicts!

Sorry some of the pics are not the clearest - I had to really zoom in and crop, they are all a bit 'chicken' of me so hard to get close enough for good pics! If you need more pics please let me know and I'll do my best!

Thanks both. I thought the BCM was a boy as @Spartan22 thought he was when he was little and then I've been worried that the other is as well as they look similar in size etc. Looking carefully now you've said that I can see that the younger already has a much more developed comb than the others at the same age (actually even now already looking at the pics again). I'm soo pleased :D:D.

Been trying to get a pic of my Vorwerks as no idea what they are either but they are so skittish and scared they wont' let me anywhere near them!

Thank you for all confirming the verdict :weeand for your lovely comments :love

Very pretty birds!

Super pretty!

Gorgeous birds.

Do you just mean in general or are they particularly nice Marans? If the later - what exactly makes them good?
The guy I got the eggs from breeds a few varieties and seems to be a pretty keen / good amateur - his set up is amazing so I'm guessing he made an effort to get good stock (I know he recently drove for hours to get a new breed!). I'm just asking as I dont' really know what makes a good Marans and it will be nice to have good stock as I'm hoping to breed some easter eggers from these guys - or should I now say girls :lau:lau.

Would it be possible to get some clearer pictures? Just so I can give them a closer look. :D
