Absolutely - thank you! I'll go down with my proper camera tomorrow which should get better pics than super zoomed in ones off my phone!Would it be possible to get some clearer pictures? Just so I can give them a closer look.![]()
I haven't heard that expression before - what will that look like when he is grown - different to the others I'm guessing? Now I feel bad about eating him if he is that lovely a bird!Agreed, copper wing-barred, younger Marans is your only cockerel. That striking coloration gives him away GORGEOUS birds! Marans are my very favorite.

Blue Copper cockerels have bright orange hackles, either black or fiery saddles, and rich red in the wing bars. Here's a picture I found off the internet:Absolutely - thank you! I'll go down with my proper camera tomorrow which should get better pics that super zoomed in ones off my phone!

So true - I have almost all heritage breeds / dual purpose with that in mind - just havent' actually got to the killing and eating stage yet!!!However, if he's destined for the oven or pot, he'll taste just as good as he looks.Love that heritage meat.
That's the beauty of raising birds - choosing who stays, and who goes.Oh my goodness he is just amazing!!!! We are now discussing if we shouldn't keep him and eat King Louis our Orp / ??? mix. He is just wow wow wow! Then I'd have an Araucana and a Marans roo which would be good for my idea of trying to breed lots of multi coloured eggs / easter eggers.

I do have one Araucana henIf you own any hens which carry the blue egg gene, you could hatch Olive Eggers.
I'm not even sure you can get Cornish X here in France. Will the Orpington X be OK to eat? He is certainly big enoughGood thinking. Cornish X may mature much more quickly, but heritage provide better flavor. It's well worth the wait.Best wishes for easy processing!
