What sex are these silkies, my new rescues.

Out of something like 31 straight run feed store bantams last year ($3-$4/ea.) we ended up with 1 pullet. I can't tell you on price. I wouldn't pay $3 for all of them, much less each (no problems acquiring roos here LOL), but you never know what someone else might. You could list them on CL for $2-$3/ea. Worst case you have no takers.

I got rid of all but 1 by giving away and re-homing. I had 1 lady take 10-15 all at once who didn't care they were all roos and she insisted on paying the kids something. $15 if I remember correctly. She said she lived on 80 acres and had several grandkids in 4-H. I know through DH that at least some of the white silkie roos got blues at their county fair that summer, but considering the area, that doesn't mean they turned out well.

I got rid of most fairly young, say 3-4 months old, but based off the pullet and roo we kept and those we've recently acquired, I wouldn't even hazard a guess on age beyond saying they're 4mnths+. Coming up on a year for the 2 feed store silkies, the pullet looks the same as she did at 4mnths. The roos comb is now monstrous compared to what a Silkies' comb should be, but was well on it's way there by 4mnths. One of our new approx 3mnth olds from a private breeder has just as much if not more feathering on half it's body as both the feed store Silkies combined and I expect will be close to twice their size when it's almost a year old.

I may look to re-home the feed store Silkies at some point, but for now, I have the room to spare and my youngest (3yrs) has her 2 sweet yet homely lap babies that I don't have to worry if they get fed corn or spend too much time running around outside.
