What should I do about my bloated goat?

The best thing I have ever found to treat bloat in goats is GasX. It is much faster and safer than oil and the other usual remedies. Are your goats up to date on their CD/T shots? Enterotoxemia can case bloat and entero is very serious.

Right now see if you can fill him up on dry hay. I used to feed my goats hay just before I turned them out on lush green grass. By doing that I prevented a lot of problems.

We have never given my goats shots. I got them as babies so I don't know if they already had some shots before we got them. What is GasX?

He's doing way better now. When I brought them hay he was eating it. Yesterday he didn't even touch his food. He was also trying to get out of the fence which is what he normally does when I go to the fence. But yesterday he just stood there.

The area on his back by his tail doesn't have any fur on it he has itched it and it's all gone away. What do you think that would be? The mini/fainting goat is perfectly fine.

GasX is a treatment for gas in people. You find it in the grocery store or the drug store where medicines are found. CD/T is a vaccine for clostridium perfingens and tetanus. I gave my kids a shot shortly after they were born and ten one every three weeks or so until they were three months old. Then they got a booster once a year. I happened to live in an area of California where entero was very common, probabbly because of the pH of the soil. Clostridium perfingens causes enterotoxemia. It can strike any goat at any time without warning and can kill in a matter of hours. All goats should be vaccinated for it.

Okay, do you have to get that vaccine from the vet or can you get it from somewhere else?

You ought to be able to get it from any feed store or livestock supply that sells vaccines. That is where I got mine.

Lack of hair is usually lice or fungus, or both. My guess is he has lice and has rubbed the hair off scratching. Go get some louse powder and pour it down his back. Treat all the other goats too. Lice are hard to see, by the way.
