What should i do?

Hi @Sea Wolf,
Thanks for your reply, yes i thought of that..i do have 5 more little ones (3 weeks) inside the house, and i was about to ask if mom would accept them if they would hatch in the incubator.
I guess i’m gonna wait for one or two more days (two of the three look ready, one looks a little smaller, maybe that one was laid a few days later?)

That's very dependant on the hen. Some hens want chicks so much that they will adopt any chick they walk by but others are very picky. They all adopt eggs more readily but if you choose to hatch them in your incubator I would put the chicks under your hen in the middle of the night so she's more likely to accept them.

Hi @CluckNDoodle,
Ah yes, ofcourse..to be honest, i can’t imagine she wouldn’t want them anymore (if i hatch them) but you never know..i mean, chickens can be full of surprises;)
I listened to the three eggs, but i couldn’t hear anything, which (probably) means they haven’t pipped internally..i’m gonna candle them tonight when it’s dark and check if i can see anything.
If they haven’t pipped internally it could at least last for another 24/48 hours, right?
Thanks for your reply and advise, if i decide to use the incubator, i will give it a try.

Yes, correct. If they still haven't pipped internally they still could take some time to hatch. Is it possible that another hen could have laid eggs under her? Sometimes they will have significantly staggered hatch dates because of other sneaky hens coming around and laying eggs under your broody. lol

Yes, her sister also laid her eggs, i have taken most of them away (turning them a couple of times a day, just in case..)
Since “green” (still haven’t given her a name) is broody, her sister would sit on top of her and lays her eggs..
But since the little one hatched, i tried to prevent that from happening, because i was afraid the eggs could crack because of the weight..
So yes, i think they are her big sister’s eggs that are still there.
We only have the Wyandotte sisters for a little while, and i’m not sure “Red” is a broody kind of hen..
Until now broody and her newborns are in the little coop, apart from the others..
Not sure if i should put her big sister with them or not?

I just candled the eggs, i think they are between 15-18 days, so it could last for 2-6(!) days more..

This is my first time with a broody hen, so still learning.
I have to say she keeps the eggs perfectly warm (and humidity seems perfect too).
This is so different from incubating..and beautiful to watch this natural process:love

I’ll keep you updated (if you don’t mind)

Please do keep us updated! Hopefully they will all hatch soon so your broody can hatch them all herself! :jumpy:jumpy:jumpy
