What should I expect?

My backyard farm, Maine
My roo is learning about the birds and the bees right now.
He along with 9 others are getting at that age.
So I'm kind of curious.... Should I eve bother expecting eggs this late in the year or should I wait for spring?
I need to put a few nesting boxes on the floor of the coop for the silkies and I haven't even started yet in hopes that they won't lay until spring but I'm new to the egg part.
So geniuses out there! What should I expect?

How old are the pullets? My roo was ready at 14 weeks but the girls weren't until, well, 23 weeks for the earliest one. I'd have the boxes ready at 15 weeks JIC but not expect anything until 20 or later.

They are just pushing 5 months old right now.
Maybe you're right. I should put a few up JIC.
I just figured since the days were getting shorter and there's less light that they might not decide to lay until spring.
