What should I grow in a "chicken garden"?

I have plenty of room to grow a "chicken garden", and am wondering what to grow in it. I have 15 free-range chickens that wander all over my three acres, but I have decided to enclose a large area to keep them from pooping all over the patios and the deck. I have plenty of wire fencing, so am planning on an area about 100 feet by 50 feet, with a garden nearby. What would you suggest that I grow in the nearby garden? Whatever grows there will be exclusively for the chickens, as we have a large veggie garden area on another part of the property. What can I grow that will cover the wire fence and make the chickies happy?

Thanks!

I am doing the same thing myself. (fenced run and garden) I also have a vegetable garden that I feed whatever I have to much of. I am going to try sunflowers and corn for the winter months.

I have grown sunflowers, millet, and wheat for the chickens.

They certainly like the various veggies in the squash/pumpkin family.

I heard somewhere that chickens like hops, and that hops provide great nutrition! They would probably like peas as well.

Mine LOVE watermelon in the summer, so you could grow some of those as long as you can keep them away long enough for the melons to ripen.

cucmbers are a favorite and easy to grow, watermelons, cantaloupes and honeydews too, mine go ape over pappayas but may be toooo cold for pappayas where you are!
